5 Cutting Edge Dental Treatments and Tools

Dentist Blog

Dentistry is a constantly evolving field. If you are wondering about the latest developments in dental treatments, read on. This blog contains details of five cutting edge treatments which help your dentist to treat many different dental health issues.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays have a number of advantages when compared to traditional x-rays. Digital x-rays produce much less radiation which reduces the chance of harm to your body. Digital x-rays are also available immediately on your dentist computer. The improved image quality of a digital x-ray will also allow your dentist to zoom in and identify problems with ease.

Air abrasion

Air abrasion is a modern technique which can be used as an alternative to traditional drilling. If your dentist wishes to remove a section of your tooth, they will be able to use an air abrasion tool to blast the surface of the tooth with microscopic particles of aluminium oxide. As these particles strike the surface of your teeth, they generate friction which gradually drills into the tooth. Air abrasion is a great choice if you are afraid of the dentist drill.

Invisalign

Invisalign offers a major breakthrough in dealing with crooked teeth. This clear mould is designed to invisibly sit over the top of your teeth. The mould is specially shaped to place pressure on your teeth so that they move into line. They are a great way of fixing your smile without having to wear braces made of metal wire. Another bonus is that you can remove an Invisalign product anytime you want, which makes eating food and cleaning the dental appliance much easier.

Laser dentistry

At one time, the only person who used a laser was the bad guy in a James Bond film. However, lasers are now routinely used in dental clinics to perform a wide range of procedures such as filling cavities, whitening your teeth or removing tumours. Lasers of a painless way and quick way which often removes the need for more invasive treatments.

HealOzone

HealOzone uses ozone gas in order to attack and kill bacteria and fungi which are growing in your oral cavity. Bacteria are a leading cause of tooth decay, and fungi can infect your tongue and other soft membranes, leading to an unpleasant taste developing in your mouth.
